Holistic Homes Inc. receives grant from Truist Foundation to develop AI-powered mental health app

Prince George’s County, MD, (February 10, 2025) – Holistic Homes Inc. today announced it received a $10,000 grant from the Truist Foundation to support the development of an AI-powered mental health app. The app will provide guidance and support to individuals facing mental health conditions.

“With this grant, we are taking a significant step in providing innovative mental health support to our community,” said Lisa Bass Cooper, founder and board president at Holistic Homes Inc.

The development of this app is an important part of Holistic Homes Inc.’s mission to provide much-needed resources for individuals struggling with mental health issues in underserved communities. The grant will allow the organization to pay for the development of the AI-powered app, which will offer personalized guidance and support to users on their mental health journeys.

“The day after the election of our new President, I scanned our organization’s email box. I did a double take when I saw a message from Truist Foundation,” said Cooper. “The message was good news. We had been awarded a $10,000 grant from Truist Foundation to forge ahead faster on our mission of providing sorely needed housing and innovative wellness programming for individuals who manage mental health conditions in underserved communities.”

Cooper her gratitude for receiving the Truist Foundation grant mixed with renewed hope. “My eyes watered slightly. That flash of emotion quickly turned to a determination mindset. This month, Black History Month, that determination is on fire,” she continued.

“This funding will be specifically used to pay the developer of an AI-powered mental health App with the goal of providing valuable guidance and support to users in their mental health journeys.”

Holistic Homes Inc. is not stopping there. The organization is also applying for a bond grant to build more permanent housing for adults affected by mental health conditions. To secure the bond, Holistic Homes will need to raise $140,000 over the next two years as part of a grassroots campaign.

“I know it can be done. Miracles come in many packages and actions,” Cooper added. “We must remain steadfast and not get weary or distracted in a season of buck-wild change. We are staying our course. And we hope others will join us.”
